Thinking of Inking

Anoushka Probyn Personal Style Fashion Blog - Jewels and Tattoos

To ink or not to ink?

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo for a while now.

Overall I like the idea of tattoos. Even though everyone and their mother and their grandmother has one now, they still seem so damn cool. I feel like tattooed me would wear lots of leather and scowl a lot. Badass, right?

The problem is, what to get? I tend to be so indecisive I change my outfit several times before leaving the house, it’s hard to commit to a permanent marking on my body! I want a tattoo that means something, as I feel like if I go for a novelty graphic I’ll get tired of it, and end up regretting it. However most meaningful tattoo ideas have become cliches. I mean, how many thousands of people have ‘wanderlust’ inked on them somewhere? Judging by Pinterest, a hell of a lot.

I think the secret to a successul tattoo is to find something that is uniquely meaningful to you, such as a momento of a loved one or treasured memory. I’ve been wracking my brains to think of things I love that mean a lot to me. My city, travel, clothes, a good bacon sandwich (if bacon was more picturesque I would TOTALLY get a bacon tat) are just some of the things that I like, but I haven’t come up with the ‘one’.

My ideal tattoo would be something no one else has, that’s personal to me but also looks good to those that don’t know the meaning behind it. However I’ve been drawing up blanks for a while now, perhaps it’s time to just take the plunge! I know all tattoo advice is to only get one if you’re absolutely sure, but it could be one of those things I’ll never really be ‘ready’ for. I’m tempted to be spontaneous and see what happens!

I want to hear from you guys – do you have tattoos? Were they spur of the moment or carefully planned? Any advice for newbies thinking of inking?

I’ve been collecting my tattoo inspiration on pinterest, take a look!

I think that it’s very cool for a shooting or for a crazy night out, but too much for the everyday life!

I have 2 tattoos and I love them! However I wouldn’t get any more… They were fun when I got them, but I’m just passed that phase. They are just a great reminder of a very different and special time in my life – being carefree!

I’ve always thought about getting a tattoo, but I don’t think I can commit to one! I also am worried that I’d eventually get bored of it. I just have to say that I LOVE your jewellery in these photos. Just beautiful!

These are basically my exact thoughts! I’ve toyed with the idea for a while too but haven’t been able to decide. I think we’d be total badasses if we had tattoos. :)

I personally love tattoos. I have 3 of them and I am still considering getting a few more. For me, it has always been about concealing them especially for a job. I always wanted one on my wrist, but that is such a tough area to cover. Definitely take some time to think about it though and make sure you love it!

Omg, I’m totally with you about tattoos. I’ve been wanting to get one forever but haven’t been able to just go and do it. I would want a little cardinal outline on my wrist because that’s the state bird of North carolina, where I’m from!

    loving your blog girl!

I am with you about tattos, I’ve been wanting one forever, but just can’t committ! I would want something really meaningful to me, like a small outline of a cardinal because that’s the state bird of North carolina, where I’m from. Loving your blog!

I have one and it means a lot to me. It’s a picture of Daedalus with his wings outstretched. It symbolizes for me achieving goals and my love of flying, which something that impacted on the whole of my life- in a good way. I never had another tattoo done because I’ve never really felt that strong about anything else.

if you choose to get a tattoo, then definitely something that means something to you and not only any random stuff. I’ve actually got three tattoos so far and want to get another one soon. But first I want to be a 100% sure what it is

I think the choice is totally up to you, but find something that will be meaningful to you forever. I look down at my tattoo & smile everytime I see it. It’s important that you totally love it!

I’m in the same boat, I’ve always wanted a tattoo but there is no specific ‘thing’ I want so I have to wait until I find something that really speaks to me / strikes a chord!
