Urban Decay Matte Lipstick Review

Happy Sunday! I hope you’re doing it properly and are still in your jammies, hopefully with a handsome OH in the kitchen cooking you up a full English!

Something a bit different for you today, I’m venturing into unchartered territory with a beauty post! Urban Decay’s new fall line of makeup debuted recently and I got my hands on their new matte revolution lipstick collection, which I couldn’t resist sharing with you in the form of several pouty portraits (soz, I have resting bitch face apparently).

I’m not a huge lipstick wearer for day to day, mainly because I’m messy and it usually ends up smeared down my chin within a few hours. However the reason I’m breaking my beauty silence is because these lipsticks have been a mini-revelation for me. They literally do not budge. I’ve worn them out for full days of eating and drinking and occasionally smooching and haven’t had to top up once. It’s a miracle!

I’m doing this anti-chronologically, as the colour in the picture above is that last one I tried. I’m actually a little scared of pink lipstick, preferring to support the red corner. But Menace is the perfect bubblegum pink. It’s fun but doesn’t feel too girly, more ironic girliness to be paired with huge tutti-frutti faux fur coats and bright mirrored shades. The Baby Spice of the Urban Decay girl band, if you will. Consider me converted!

Ahh, a safe red. Temper has become my automatic go to for a works-with-anything beauty look. I can’t think of a comparable Spice Girl because none of them were really classy enough for a nice shade of red (the 90’s weren’t the classiest of decades all round, lets be honest). This colour is wearable, has orange tones which works well on darker skin tones (complimenting what’s left of your summer tan!), and is just the right balance of bold and and neutral.

Stark Naked has Posh Spice written all over it. It’s sexy, simple, and just dark enough to ensure you don’t look like you’re rocking foundation lips (although no one has ever rocked that particular look..). I think if this was super super matte it could look a bit strange and skin-like, but it’s got just enough gloss to give definition.

This colour is probably my favourite. It’s a gorgeous super-pigmented vampy shade called After Dark that can easily be layered up for a more gothic look, but I like to wear it with a little lip balm to gloss it up. The lipstick embodiment of Scary Spice, perhaps?

Err, I’m running out of Spice Girls. I guess this one is just whoever is left (Sporty..?) Bittersweet is kind of the wild card of the bunch! I was expecting it to be darker and more subdued, but this is a super bold hue. It’s probably not for day wear, but I’m definitely planning on incorporating this into my halloween outfit.

Holla at me if you’re interested in more beauty reviews! Have you tried any of the Fall line of lipsticks? Which is your favourite shade?

For uncharted territory, you’re making a pretty good hike, Anoushka! All the lipsticks sound fantastic! I’m a pretty huge wearer of lipstick but just have not found good ones that last me the entire day. Perhaps I should look into this. I found it extremely interesting that you thought red was safe and pink mortifying (I feel the same way!) because, usually, red is the colour that is daring.

Thanks hun! It’s so annoying when it all ends up on your cheek/teeth, but these are great they barely budge! Ooh that’s true I’d never thought of that, but somehow red as a lip colour feels conservative, maybe because it’s traditionally the colour of lipstick!

I’ve never tried an urban decay lipstick but if they’re anything as good as their eye shadows, then I bet they are amazing! xx

You are so gorgeous! And you look amazing in every single shade, you definitely have no need to be scared of pinks! The lipsticks look lovely, I’ve never tried an urban decay one before so I may have to :)
